A pathway to a healthier you

Self-health check

As nurses, midwives, and students you give so much to others. But when was the last time you paused to check in with yourself? Caring for your health and wellbeing is just as important as the care you provide to others.

Use our self-health check to reflect on how you are really doing. Looking after yourself is important for your quality of life and the first step to providing the best care to others.

Pause and answer these questions to identify your health priorities

Question 1 (energy levels)

Do you feel physically or mentally drained more often than not?

Question 2 (emotional wellbeing)

Have you been feeling detached, overwhelmed, or irritable?

Question 3 (work or study engagement)

Are you struggling to find motivation or satisfaction in your daily work or studies?

Question 4 (physical wellbeing)

Are you experiencing headaches, muscle tension, poor sleep or other physical signs of stress?

Question 5 (self-care and balance)

Do you consistently neglect self-care or find it hard to say "no" to others' demands?

Question 6 (focus and clarity)

Are you finding it hard to concentrate or make decisions?

Question 7 (sense of accomplishment)

Do you feel ineffective, undervalued, or that you're not making a difference?

Thanks to our friends at the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria, they provide a free self-care plan and we encourage you to complete it.
