Nurse Midwife HPA announces first health competition winners
Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia is delighted to announce the winners of its first ever competition asking nurses, midwives and our students for their best health tip for 2024.
“We were excited to see so many entries from nurses, midwives and students offering their health tips, ranging from those on personal self-care including nutrition, sleep and shift work to suggestions on how to manage the emotional toll and pressures of the job,” said Nurse Midwife HPA Deputy Implementation Director Mark Aitken.
Our three lucky winners received one of three $150 gift vouchers:
- Annie, student nurse: Chronic health – ask for help
- Srijana, nurse: Leave work at the end of a shift
- Frankie, midwife: Take a breath

“We encourage nurses and midwives to visit the health tips section of the website for some tried and tested, and also lesser known and even a little more unorthodox tips and tools to help you in a pathway for a healthier you,” said Mr Aitken.
“There’s also lots of resources from organisations we trust and personal accounts from nurses, midwives and students around the country.
“It’s not always easy to carve out time for yourself or make your own health a priority with the nature of the work that nurses and midwives do.
“Likewise asking for help when you’re experiencing personal or professional difficulties can be tough. NMHPA’s experienced nurses and midwives are here to listen and support you. Call us if you need to talk something through or are looking for some strategies for better health or an individual health issue. We’re to help.”
