Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia says thank you to our midwives!
On this International Day of the Midwife, the team at Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia (NMHPA) say thank you for all you do.
We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work that you do caring for women and their familiesNMHPA Director Heather Pickard
The theme for 2024 International Day of the Midwife, held annually on 5 May, is Midwives: A Vital Climate Solution.
Midwives deliver environmentally sustainable health services and play a key role in making health systems more climate resilient. During climate crises, from floods and cyclones to bushfires and heatwaves, Australian midwives adapt to ensure safe, respectful and quality care for women and gender diverse people.
So much of your time is spent on helping others that it’s easy for midwives and students to forget about their own health.
Looking after yourself is essential when you are caring for others, as highlighted by frontline midwives who’ve shared their personal stories with NMHPANMHPA Deputy Director Mark Aitken
Nurse Midwife HPA is open for peer support and telehealth counselling for midwives and students of the professions living anywhere in Australia.
We are on a mission to normalise help-seeking behaviours. Read Midwife Bridget’s story of normalising counselling. Midwife Marni’s shares her story on the impact of cultural load that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander midwives experience.
Wherever you are in Australia, you can call us for a free and confidential chat about any issue that is impacting your health. We offer unlimited, person-centred and culturally appropriate services tailored to meet your needs.
Phone 1800 001 060 for a confidential one-to-one session with an experienced midwife. 9-5pm Monday-Friday (EST).
